I will rededicate the rest of my life to ruining the rest of yours.

You know what's annoying? Annoying is sitting in a plane, a row ahead of the only two bastards who won't shut up. Well, OK, that's only mildly annoying. What makes it fully annoying is that they're technology consultants for the same company chatting it up about technology that they have no idea about. Neither one has the foggiest idea what they're saying, but they're just spewing back marketing drivel and consultant techno-babble back and forth trying to sound all impressive and, of course, buying each other's crap hook line and sinker. What makes it maddeningly annoying is when they start badmouthing a not-present coworker for not understanding anything about their business. Unfortunately I didn't catch what company these people were from, but it's a good thing the flight was five hours long and not five hours and one minute long, as I was about a minute away from turning around and asking so that I could inform them that I'd dedicate the rest of my life to dissuading anyone from ever doing business with any company that would hire them.

This entry begins my capsule reviews of new shows I'm following this season. Joan of Arcadia, in a nutshell: Dad is nonoffensive - a little overdramatic, but plots are a nice change of pace. Younger brother is insignificant so far, but is at least amusing. Joan herself is awesome ... props to Amber Tamblyn for nailing this role absolutely perfectly ... her interactions with God are brilliantly written and protrayed. And that leads to the older brother. Who, I'm sorry to say, was only crippled in a car accident and wasn't smeared into a little paste on the ground, alongside a smear of the mother. Those two characters need to die and be forgotten ASAP, as they are unilaterally horrifically awful - writing, characters, and acting - all the way across the board.

Edit: Clarified which brother I think should be turned into paste.

Yeah, they're crap.

It's a shame you don't know which company it was. :)

There are a couple shows that are worth watching this season:

1) The Practice -- James Spader is doing a fabulous job reenergizing a show that was basically dead. He/the writers are doing a great job at creating a lecherous character with a heart of gold. If you had written “The Practice” off, it’s time to check it out again. It doesn’t hurt that guest stars have included Chris O’Donnell and Sharon Stone.

2) Vegas -- Vegas is a highly stylized show. While it can be a bit cheesy sometimes, it has energy and it brings something new to a line-up of CSIs and Law And Orders.

3) 10-8 -- If you are looking for an Ed-esque show, 10-8 is it. It's not great, but it doesn't suck. Like Ed it's a rare dramady. It's a nice change of pace for those who don't mind absolute cheese but gag when they hear the theme to “Judging Amy.”

4) Threat Matrix. If you were willing to watch "The Agency", you might want to check this show out. It's what the agency wanted to be. Think -- CSI Homeland Security (or something like that).

From the "Don't bother section" -- You can feel free to skip right over "Karen Sisco" and "The Lion's Den." Don't pass go, don't collect $200. There is nothing to see here. Move along.

On the bubble -- "The Handler." This show is still looking for itself. It could break either way. “Navy NCIS” is in the same boat.

I forget to mention that you should expect an "I disagree with everything that he said" message from Nick. In the history of time, Nick and I have never agreed on anything! ;)

Heh, not entirely, strangely enough. I haven't watched The Practice, though one of my roommates likes it. Las Vegas is *great* ... I'll get into it with a future capsule review, but I love it. 10-8 I'm not familiar with, and Threat Matrix is one of those mythical shows on Thursday that people keep mentioning but I still don't believe exists. I only know of one TV channel on Thursday night and nobody has yet to prove otherwise.

Having just watched this week's Vegas I feel the need to yell. "YOU CAN ONLY ENHANCE A PICTURE SO FAR." This problem is not unique to Vegas. I think that all Hollywood writers should be forced to take a tech class!
