There are some signs in our cafeteria right now advertising specials that they're running every other Tuesday. For some reason, though, they read:

What's with the quotes around Tuesday? Are there only specials when it's Tuesday, but not really Tuesday? Or do I get a special if I call it Tuesday when it really isn't?

Stupid people, or those not very familiar with English, decide they want to emphasize something so they put it in quotes. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is more grammatically bothersome to me. Join use for hot "dogs". Come see our "new" facilities. The "hot" place to be seen. GAH! What has led to this gross misunderstanding of quote marks? Don't we have 15,000 different fonts and font styles that would do the trick?

*oooh, note the clever, unnecessary use of quotations. I am so funny!
