That Itch

So, 15 years after I finished my first set of immunotherapy shots for my allergies, I started again on Monday since the last ones seem to have lost their effectiveness.

It's now Wednesday morning and it's all I can do to stop myself from tearing all of the skin off of my arms.

Maybe I'm just forgetting, but I can't recall the shots itching so badly last time I went through this - anybody have any idea whether I should be concerned?

Oh no, they've accidentally injected you with a non-attenuated form of that flesh-eating virus! RUN!!!!!

:-) You were pretty young for the first round, no? Chicken Pox itches more as an adult too, I've heard.

You're just a bigger wuss now than you used to be.

Claritin (loratidine) or Benadryl (diphenhydramine) are oral antihistamines that would decrease the itching. Topical hydrocortisone preparations can also be applied to the area. Both of these just reduce the release of inflammatory mediators from immune cells, but not the antibody formation to the antigen.
